Course Description: FASHION:LAB ~ (Drop-In)
Drop in and join the movement. Fashion: Lab is a class where we will explore our human expression through the practice of posing and developing a style on the runway. This is a great class for anyone interested in learning how to model and what it is like to be a part of the fashion culture. Come and explore your unique expression and style as we warm up to working as a model.

Basic description of a typical class: Course Outline
The First Part of the Class is a Fashion World talk & working on a Project Design.
The second part of the class is runway practice and creative posing for photography.

Week 1
INTRO: FASHION IS AN ART. *VISION BOARD
A vision board is a way to start to visualize what it would look like to be in the fashion industry. So with our goals dreams, idea’s we are going to put these onto a Vision Board to start the creative process.

Week 2
Project design: Flow & Movement in design ~ BOA
In designing a boa, we will get very expressive and creative in a simple design that can evolve to a high-fashion element. From the simple design of a shape, texture, and material, we are going to design a large-scale BOA that can be playful for movement.

Practice of fashion modeling, posing, drawing/painting compositions to music.
Week 3
Project design: Flow & Movement in design ~ BOA
DEVELOPMENT In designing a boa we will get very expressive and creative in a simple design that can evolve. From the simple design of a shape, texture, and material, we are going to design a large-scale BOA that can be playful for movement.

Week 4
Project design: Character & posing ~ Long Gloves/spray painted shoes
We will cut out and hand-design long gloves with fabric choices. Making simple patterns from our hands. This is great for runway and photography. We will ask student to bring in a pair of shoes that will paint or spray paint or add an element to. This helps to find character and it will be their “designer shoes” for the runway as well as something they can fashion around the city to practice making an art statement.

Week 5
Project design: Design Touch-ups ~ Additional Design (if time), Intro FASHION SHOOT
We will see where in the process we are with our first designs, to add touch-ups or we may add another design to develop. We are going to start planning a professional fashion photoshoot. So, looking at locations, practicing posing with our existing designs or an outfit they may want to explore. This will help market their work.

Week 6
Project design: Flow & Movement in design ~ portfolio building, presentation
We will be taking our top images from our sketch book and fashion illustration sessions, and see our direction. With our designs, our photos, and imagery, we will start to articulate a way of presenting them in a portfolio. We will look at Marketing ideas to promote our work.

Project designs and extra ideas are creative and expressive, allowing us to work with them on the runway or in photography.

Tube/Shape Dress or Shaped Top~ design a simple pattern and develop it to add to their design
Spray Painted Shoes~ A WAY TO GET CREATIVE

Fashion Illustration & Runway: Modeling
Learn how to be a fashion model. Here we are going to take turns, get really creative with drawing as we start to draw and design like designers. This will run every class to build a drawing skill or technique that will help or students develop fashion illustration skills. Practice of movement on the runway, along with posing. This helps students to warm up their creative vibe, finding confidence and character within the designs they are creating.
Here we are going to get really creative in our practice of drawing FASHION and movement.
We will see how illustration reaches to the design, the details, and the photography in the presentation.

*we will be exploring drawing movement, motion, body positioning, elements of nature and design.
Photography & Posing:
Design composition portfolio start: Here we talk about our design and articulate it in front of the camera.
This is more practice from illustration and design with the flow and movement into photography. We will get them comfortable using their character in wearing the designs posing and start of presenting their work visually.
We will do a locational shoot close to the school, just a taste of a typical fashion shoot and I will upload 1 or 2 of their strongest shots.
Materials:
Sketch Book, drawing tools (charcoal, graphite, pilot pen, ink), paint brush, presentation paper
Fabric for Designs, they can bring as we introduce the design.
Pattern paper.
Shoes.
Any extra material I will fill them in.
